Pixie Dust Studio Challenge #42 - Swirls On the Correct Day!

Well, I lost a few brain cells somewhere along the way, don't bother to pick them up - they seem to be worn out!  I posted my PDS card on Wednesday instead of Thursday.  I'm in Falls Church, VA with DD and 4 lovely grandchildren (that addle me a bit, LOL!).  DD had surgery yesterday and I have been scuttling my grandchildren and 2 extras around the area for school, violin lessons, etc.  Seems I got mixed up on the day of the week and was a day early with my post.  So...one more time!  The Pixie Dust Studio Challenge for this week is to create a card or project with lots and lots of swirls!  I chose Lil Red and Wolf Jacob, after all, what's "Little Red Riding Hood" without the wolf?  Only thing, this wolf is not bad, he's really yummy!

I chose Basic Grey's Indian Sumer collection and used my new Magnolia Doohickey die to add extra swirls. My scalloped panel is actually embossed with a Cuttlebug swirley folder, sorry it does not show up too well in my photo.  Coloring is with my Copics and I cut out both images for my card.  I love brown and pink together and this ribbon from PTI matches the brown in my DP.

Thanks for visiting today and be sure to visit the other Pixie's blogs for more inspiration, they're listed on my sidebar.  Hope you will join us for this week's Pixie Challenge here!

Critter Sketch Challenge #33 - Sketch!

This week's exciting challenge is to create a card using our own fabulous sketch artist, Kelly Haberstroh.  Here's the sketch:
And here's my challenge card:
I haven't posted a Tilda image in such a long time!  This is a new stamp, "Cowgirl Tilda".  The color brown just took me over for this card.  I colored Tilda with my Copics and added punched stars, embossing, Spellbinder dies and jute.  And the cute little sentiment is from my SU set, "Cowboy Kid".  I think this is just perfect for Tilda!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog!  I hope you will visit the other "Critters" blogs to see their creations and for inspiration.  They are listed on my sidebar.  Hope you will join us for this week's challenge located here!

Sugar Creek Hollow Sketch Challenge

It's another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow!  This week Tracy challenged us to make a card using her digital stamp, "Lord of the Harvest".  This stamp is fabulous for making a tag card or a fall card commemorating the gorgeous autumn season.  I found this luscious DP  from K & Company on one of my shopping forays  and I thought this would be perfect for my card:

I lightly colored with my Copic Markers and added punched flowers and a "vintage bow".  This was fun to work up!  Next I have some closeups of my bow and punched flower.

Thanks for visiting my blog and I hope you will check out my design team member's creations at Sugar Creek Hollow and also on my sidebar.  Check out this week's challenge, we'd love to have you join us!

Keep My Lamp Burning

This is a sympathy card I made for a dear friend who passed away this week with pancreatic cancer.  He and his wife and boys were active members of our church when they lived here and were involved in everything going on in the community.  I just love this lighthouse image from Our Daily Bread Designs.  The light is a beacon and the charts on the image guide our way.  Certainly tools that someone making a career in the Coast Guard uses frequently.   It also reminds me of a song our choir sings, "The Lighthouse".

I stamped my lighthouse with Versamark and then used gold embossing power.  I added a Spellbinder's frame and cross.  I laced jute through the scallops of the frame and added "shells" for a more nautical look.  My sentiment was stamped with Tim Holz's Distressed Ink "Old Paper".  The design paper is aptly named "Sandy Beach" by Penny Black.  On the inside of my card, I used the poem "Crossing the Bar" by Lord Alfred Tennyson.

I feel blessed that I can use my craft at times like these.

Thanks for visiting today!

Alert! Alert! Alert!

I just posted a link for some fabulous blog candy on my sidebar. Jenny is giving away some incredible blog candy in celebration of her birthday!  She is giving away over $100 worth of stamps from her Paper Jewels store and 2 Cuttlebug folders!  Now that's what I call a give away!  Just visit her blog, leave a comment and link this fabulous blog candy to your blog.  Easy peasy!

Tiddly Inks Challenge #21 - Our Pets

Finally!  I've been trying to get to my blog all day to post my new card for the Tiddly Inks Challenge.  I love Christy's images and I've been wanting to enter one of her challenges forever!

Now, a "pets" challenge is just my cuppa tea.  I've loved my pets ever since I could toddle.  Dogs and cats are my favorites, so I just had to make a card with "Girl's Best Friend".  When I was growing up, my playmates were always my dog and cat.  I lived in the country and there were no other children close enough to hang out with,

I used my Basic Grey "Olivia" collection.  I just love bright colors, can you tell?  I colored my image with Copic markers and used my Spellbinders' dies and various punches.  And I just had to add that satin ribbon!

Thanks for visiting!  I'll be back tomorrow with my Sugar Creek Hollow challenge card for this week.

Pixie Dust Studio Challenge #40 - "Fur or Feathers"

Pixie Dust Studio has a really fun challenge this week!  Choose an image with either "fur" or "feathers" to create your challenge entry.

I chose two images this week, "Purrfect Princess" an "Knit 1 Pearl 2" from the Pixie Dust Studio shop.  Cats all think they are princesses and that you belong to them.  They also choose the best seats in the house!

I chose Basic Grey's "Olivia" for my design paper and SU card stock.  Purrfect Princess and her chair were colored with Copic markers.  I added a daisy from my "Heartfelt Creations" set and the embellishment is a "Doohickey" die from Magnolia Stamps.

I hope you will join us for our challenge this week here and please visit the other Pixie's blogs, listed on my sidebar,  to see their challenge creations.

Thanks for visiting!

Halloween Bulldog

I have been wanting to created a Halloween card with this image forever!  Here is just one of the cutest little bulldogs designed by Priscilla Heaton and available at her Priscilla Styles store.  I'm a doggie lover and this image just appealed to me so much.

I used Basic Grey's Eerie collection and SU card stock  My bulldog is colored with Copic markers and I sprayed some Smooch on the bat wings.  I also added card stock embossed with my Cuttlebug and a MS spider web panel.

There are also some lovely vintage images available at Priscilla's Store and if you visit the Crafter's Digital Art Center (CDAC) and go to Priscilla's group you can see what fabulous creations the members have made.

Thanks for visiting!

Critter Sketch Challenge #31 - Back to School

This week's Critter Sketch Challenge is here! For this challenge, Melanie asked that we try and create a school related project.  Our host for this month's challenges is Sew Many Cards and I used one of their cute images, "Cammi Bookworm".  I think this is the perfect image for a teacher!

Decorative Lid

I colored Cammi with Copic markers and used Basic Grey DP.  Prima flowers and butterflies added with my MS punch were added to decorate my lid.  The sparkly button is from MFT.

Now this may not help your child get an "A", but I'm sure the teacher will appreciate any gifts!  They work hard to educate our children and some of them don't even get a thank you.

Thanks for visiting and be sure to visit the other Critter's blogs to see their creations this week!

Sugar Creek Hollow Saturday Sketch Challenge

It's beginning to feel more and more like fall.  We closed up the swimming pool this week since the nights are dipping into the 60's.  The leaves are beginning to fall and the grass has finally ceased growing at alarming rates.  I hope you were able to make it to our blog hop last Saturday, we had a blast and kicked off the season with new digi stamps and a brand new design team!   Sugar Creek Hollow has some fantastic Fall Digis in their store and we have some new creations to show you from the design team this week! I designed my card around the sentiment "Thanksgiving Wishes".
I used my PTI DP that I've had in my stash forever and added embossed and sponged panels, Canson, and SU card stock.  Couldn't forget the lace and the country crinkled ribbon!  I also made my decorative flower using diecuts. I dug around in my button tin and found a vintage button to add.  This was so much fun adding all these elements!

This is only one of the fabulous new designs Tracy has created, so please be sure to check out all the new fall digi stamps!  Our design team has been busy creating new cards this week from this sketch:
We would love to have you join our challenge this week!  Just create a card from the sketch and enter here.

Thanks for visiting and be sure to visit the rest of the team's blogs to see their new creations and get some inspiration!  They are listed on my sidebar.
