An Entry for the Sugar Bowl Challenge

Challenge 11 Unless you have been out of the country or without internet, you've probably heard of Sugar Nellie stamps. I fell in love with their stamps even before they became famous on Splitcoast Stampers. My latest Sugar Nellie's are from the Home Grown collection. After such a busy week running all over doing errands, I decided to have fun and enter the latest challenge over at the Sugar Bowl . I used the image "Purrfect Friends" for my entry. The sketch was so much fun to follow, please have a look at my entry and let me know what you think!

Gramie's Girls

At long last and way, way overdue - I am posting to my blog! Life sometimes just gets in the way of the things we truly love to spend time doing, just like the "best laid plans". And... after all, it's not about me! I treasure my family and my grandchildren are my jewels. Today was dress rehearsal for our upcoming dance recital. I snapped oodles of pictures since cameras are not allowed during the actual performance. Taylor is giving me a "jazzy" pose, while Morgan is all smiles in her tutu.
And...of course I found the perfect image to commemorate their ballet numbers! This is a set I purchased from Funky Kits, manufactured by Stamposaurus, named Fairy Princess. I used H20's to color with - I just received my first ever this week.
I then decorated the inside of my card: (sorry this is a little dark, it was taken after 7 p.m.)
I spied this image while ordering some Sugar Nellie's, and just had to have it! It was such a good feeling to make a card again just for fun! This week has been really crazy and I needed this! I hope you've enjoyed my photos and let me know what you think of my new stamp "find"!

I've Missed Everyone!

Hello everyone! I've missed blogging and checking out my favorite blogs. I'm recovering from a series of computer crashes. I posted earlier that my computer had been misbehaving, but it went into critical mode and we had to completely remove windows XP and reinstall everything! So far so good! My DH spent hours fixing this for me and then hours updating. I think I scared him when I started talking about needing a new laptop, LOL! I went to visit my daughter and 4 grandchildren in Falls Church, VA during this event and was treated not only to a ballet recital, but was entertained with a Mother's Day Tea. There is never a dull moment in my daughter's household! I hurried home on Sunday so I could spend time with my mother. I have been very busy making cards. The last one I made was a male birthday card: Male cards are such a challenge! I borrowed SU's "Wildlife Reserve" from a friend to make my card. I stayed with a blue and brown color scheme and only embellished with two brads. I sure miss adding all the glitz! I'm always searching for different card ideas for the opposite sex, so if you have any you are willing to share, please let me know!

Thanks for checking out my blog!

An Early Mother's Day Card

Hi Everyone! My fingers are crossed that my internet woes are finally over. We lost connection again Tuesday afternoon through Friday afternoon so now I'm really, really behind! I did work on some cards during this down time. It's not too early in May to think about Mother's Day cards. I used Papertrey Ink's Quilter Sample set and Aqua Mist cardstock to create my card. I also used the cuttlebug to emboss my paper, which happens to match the plaid dp I used. My Martha Steward border punch and Nesties were used to add the final embellishments.
I embossed an outline for the inside of my card with my Scorpal and decorated with the dp paper. The hydrangeas and pearl dewdrops add the final touch.
I consider myself especially blessed to still have my mother to celebrate with this Mother's Day. She is in a nursing home but she still enjoys visits and the occasional outing. Spend time with your loved ones every opportunity you have!
